40 hurt in clash between football match supporters

GOPALGANJ, Aug 24: At least 40 persons were injured, 12 of them critically, in a clash between two groups centering on a football match at Shekir Bazar High School ground under Kotalipara Upazila in Gopalganj district yesterday (Saturday).

The critically injured are Sirajul Islam (26), Mostakim Laskar (22), Ratan (16), Akibur Rahman (15), Tarikul Islam (17), Sajib Alhmed (18), Amin Khan (17), Limon Sikder (18), Sajal (20), Redai (19), Mastafizur Rahman (28) and Babu Fakir (25). They were admitted to Kotalipara Hospital.

Thana police and local people sources said when the football game was going on between Shekir Bazar High School and Nesaruddin High School hot exchange of words began between the supporters of two groups centering on a disputed goal.
