JAMALPUR, May 04 (BSS): A total of 5,979 small and marginal farmers in the district got seeds and fertilisers free of cost under the government's agriculture incentive programme during Aus seasons.
The objective of the seeds and the fertilisers distribution among the farmers is to inspire them to cultivate Aus paddy at a low cost to strengthen the country's food security, official sources said.
The seeds and fertilisers were distributed to the selected farmers of the district through the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) recently, office sources said.
Each of the farmers got 15 kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilisers, 10 kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) and 5 kg of Aus seeds of BRRI-48 variety.
