740 Gopalganj farmers to get incentive for maize cultivation

TUNGIPARA, Gopalganj, Oct 28 (BSS): A total of 740 small and marginal farmers in five upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilisers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of maize in the Rabi season.

To increase the interest of farmers in maize cultivation, the amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Abdul Quader Sardar said.

He said each farmer will be given two kg maize seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser and five kgs of muriate of potash (MOP) fertiliser free of cost among 740 farmers for cultivating maize on one bigha of land.

The beneficiaries are 160 farmers in Sadar upazila, 150 in Muksudpur upazila, 150 in Kashiani upazila, 140 farmers in Kotalipara upazila and 140 farmers in Tungipara upazila; they will get mustard seed free of cost.
