8 get life term for murder in Natore

A court in Natore on Wednesday convicted eight people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 1999. The convicts are - Jahidul Islam, Jahurul, Jamal, Liakat, Abu Ziar, Babu, Mahbub Alam Bhuttu and Rabiul Islam. The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer, one year more rigorous imprisonment. According to the prosecution, Abdul Kuddus of Kholabaria village in sadar upazila, was beaten to death by the convicts over previous enmity on May 31, 1999. A case was filed in this connection. Later police submitted chargesheet against the eight people. After examining the records and witnesses Additional District and Sessions Judge Rahibul Islam handed down the verdict, according to UNB.
