81 posts of pry headmaster vacant in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH, Feb 17: 81 posts of headmasters in the government primary schools in Jhenidah district are falling vacant causing huge disruption in academic as well as administrative activities in the institutes.
District primary education office sources said, there are a total of 407 posts of primary headmasters in all the six upazilas of the district.
Of the total, 18 posts are lying vacant in Sadar upazila, 20 in Shailkupa, seven in Harinakundu, three in Kotchandpur, eight in Kaliganj and 25 in Moheshpur upazilas.
There are 2,159 assistant teachers working in the district.
Concerned sources said headmasters were recruited directly in 2012 last throughout the country. Besides, promotion of assistant teachers has not been done in near past.
Due to the extension of retirement age of govt. employees by two years, a number of headmasters who were supposed to retire at 57 have been in work during this time. However, of late, they have started retiring fast on fulfillment of their service tenure.
Concerned sections of people demand posting against the vacant posts immediately for the betterment of the academic-cum-administrative activities in the schools.
While contacted, Shibo Pado Dey, District Primary Education Officer (DPEO), Jhenidah told the FE that a list of gradation and vacant posts of headmasters was sent to the higher authorities two months back for taking necessary actions.
