84th birth anniversary of Suchitra Sen observed

PABNA, Apr 6: 84th birth anniversary of legendary film actress Suchitra Sen was observed in Pabna amid festivity on Monday. A discussion and cultural programme featured on the occasion organised by Suchitra Sen Smrity Shangrakhhan Parishad held at the Pabna Press Club auditorium on Sunday noon.

President of the organisation M Saidul Haque Chunnu chaired the programme addressed among others by secretary of Pabna press club Ahmedul Haque Rana, secretary of Suchitra Sen Smrity Sharankhhan Parishad Dr. Ram Dulal Voumik, teacher of Government Girls School Meher Sultana, headmaster of Pabna town girls school Md. Rabiul Karim, theatre artiste Sarwar Ullash.

Suchitra was born on April 6, 1931, at her grandfather's home at Bhangabari of Belkuchi upazila of then greater Pabna, but her first home was in Gopalpur, her father Karunamoy Dasgupta's house. She died of heart attack on January, 17 after having captured the public's heart for three decades through her ethereal beauty and intense celluloid performance, marking the end of an era in cinema.
