KHULNA, Dec 8 (BSS): Md. Younus Ali Inu, 73, Deputy Commander of Muzib Bahini (BLF) in Greater Khulna during the War of Liberation, who led several attacks on the invading Pakistani Army and their collaborators Razakar, Al Badr and Al Shams, returned alive from the jaws of death.
The victor of the War of Liberation from South Pabla of Daulatpur thana in the port city could be a rich man, but he has been living a struggling life by only looking after a small poultry and dairy firm. The hero has one sense of pride and that is his joining the war at the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
On January 11, 1972, only a day after the Father of the Nation's heroic return from the Pakistani jail, Bangabandhu greeted Inu and his co-fighters at his Dhanmondi residence in Dhaka and congratulated them for their roles risking on life during the War of Liberation. Tofail Ahmed, an organizer of the War of Liberation and now the Commerce Minister, was present at that time.
The hero, somewhat frustrated seeing many running after worldly pleasures, said, ""I don't want anything. What I want is that the present government brings the dream of Bangabandu to reality by turning Bangladesh into Sonar Bangla," Inu told BSS.
Former President of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Khulna, Inu hoisted the National Flag on March 23, 1971, on the Daulatpur BL college premises in presence of more than 20,000 students, workers and common people.
On March 29, 1971, a total of 216 convoys of the Pakistani invading army marched towards Khulna and set up camps at several places including Bangladesh Bank, Circuit House, Khulna Betar Station and Lions School in the city, he said.
As a result, more than 30 people including 14 of the family of Siddique Munshi, President of no-10 ward Awami League oin Khalishpur, were killed and at least 50 others injured in the attacks of heinous force.
