Accidents kill five in dists

Five persons killed in different accidents in four districts, report agencies.
Two people, including a girl, were crushed to death under the wheels of a running train near Joydebpur railway station in Gazipur early Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Motaleb (70), a resident of Proholadpur village in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur, and Hawa (12), a resident of Delbharda village in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh district.
Sub-inspector of Joydebpur Railway Police Dadan Miah said the duo was run over by a Dhaka-bound train 'Jamuna Express' near Joydebpur railway station and died on the spot while they were crossing the rail track at about 4:30 am.
A farmer was killed and 15 others were injured in a road accident at Akubpur on the Meherpur-Kushtia highway under Gangni upazila of the district Wednesday morning.
The deceased was Azmat Ali (65), son of late Niamat Ali of the same area.
Police said the accident occurred when a Kushtia bound bus hit a roadside tree in the area as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving pedestrian Azmat dead on the spot and 15 passengers of the vehicle injured.
Another person was killed and six others injured in a road accident at Malihata area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Sarail upazila of the district Wednesday. The deceased was Bazlur Rahman (60), resident of Darma village under Sadar Upazila. Police said the accident occurred when a pickup van collided head-on with a microbus, leaving seven people injured.
One person was killed and three others were injured when an auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a tractor at Baya Bazar area on Rajshahi-Naogaon highway under Shah mukhdum Police Station in the city Wednesday, police and hospital sources said.
The deceased was identified as Milon Hossain (24), son of Muktar Ali of Rasulpur village under Durgapur Upazila of the district. The injured two of them identified as Muktar Hossain (28) and Shahabuddin Sheikh (27).
