RAJSHAHI, Aug 07: Aedes mosquito's larvae have been found at 14 places of different areas in Rajshahi city. An insect survey team by Rajshahi Divisional Health Director's office confirmed the presence of larvae of dengue-bearing Aedes mosquito here.
Dr. Gopendra Nath Acharja, Divisional Director of Directorate of Health, Rajshahi said a three-member survey team led by Tayejul Islam, Entomologist of Rajshahi Civil Surgeon Office, collected larvae sample from 100 places under five wards of Rajshahi City Corporation.
The team members collected those samples from August 2 to 6. However; after the examination in the laboratory, on Wednesday they confirmed that they have found positive larvae of Aedes mosquito from 14 samples.
Abdul Bari, Entomology Technician of Rajshahi Directorate of Health and Umme Habiba, Entomology Technician of Rajshahi Civil Surgeon Office were other members of the survey team.
There is a huge presence of Aedes larvae in places of the city. It's time to take action to destroy Aedes mosquito larvae, Dr Acharja said.
According to the survey report, the team collected total 100 samples from Rajshahi Medical College campus and hospital area, Sheroil Bus Terminal area, Police Lines area, Shepai Para area and Upasahar area including Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital area. The survey team has found almost three samples of positive aedes larvae from every spot.
The Directorate of Health, Rajshahi office will hand over the report to the Rajshahi City Corporation soon to take necessary action in this connection.
Meanwhile, dengue- affected 33 new patients have been admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital during the last 24 hours.
