AL candidate elected Magura UZ chairman

MAGURA, July 22: AL candidate Rustam Ali was elected Magura Sadar upazila chairman in a by-election held on Tuesday.

AL-backed candidate Rustam Ali won the election bagging 55187 votes while his nearest BNP-backed candidate Ali Ahmed Biswas bagged 27091 votes.

Voters of 13 unions of Magura Sadar upazila cast their votes in 105 centres.  Magura sadar upazila chairman post was lying vacant since the death of former chairman Md Nazimuddin on April 22.
