Aman cultivation begins in full swing in Bogra

BOGRA, July 20: Cultivation of transplanted Aman paddy has started in full swing in Bogra district including Barindro zone from the beginning of the Bengali month Srabon and the farmers are passing busiest time to cultivate the cropland.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said, "We have fixed a target of 1, 85,560 hectares of transplanted Aman cultivation in the district including 12 upazilas this year's and we expect 5,49,030 tonnes of Aman paddy if the weather condition remains favourable."
The farmers are now passing busy time preparing their Aman cultivable land with wooden ploughs, power tillers and tractors for getting a bumper production. The transplantation process will continue up to the end of the Bengali month of Bhadra.
Block supervisors of each Union Parishad of the district are providing necessary consultative support to the farmers so that they can grow more Aman paddy without any hassle. BADC-approved dealers have sold high quality seeds among the farmers.
A farmer Quadir Hossain, son of Mukles Ali Dawakola village under Sadar Upazila said, "To succeed this programme DAE office has arranged training programme participation for poor and marginal farmers before starting transplantation of Aman paddy."
"Rajshahi Krishi Unnyan Bank and NGOs are distributing short-term loan to the growers as they can be able to manage the cost of planting Aman paddy." he added.
Farmer Saiful Islam of Dupchanchia Upazila said, "I have taken 4 bighas of own cropland under transplantation of Aman spending Tk 10,000 and I expect Tk 20,000 as profit from the land if the weather condition remain calm." he added.
Deputy Director of DAE Chandi Das said, "The growers of the district are showing more interest in cultivating the Aman paddy as it proved more profitable to them and an easy way of earning money." "No wasting of news of seedbed yet to be heard in the season across the district so the concerned authority and farmers are expecting a bumper production of T-Aman." emdadul2015@gmail.com
