Aman harvesting on in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Oct 25 (BSS): The harvesting of early planted T-Aman begins in all seven upazilas of the district.

Farmers said production of Aman paddy in this season is very good and they are expecting a bumper production of it.

Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said the target of cultivation of Aman was fixed at 7, 711 hectares of land in the district. Exceeding the target, a total of 12, 912 hectares of land were cultivated during the period.

Favourable weather, specially the measured seasonal water was very much helpful for T-Aman cultivation.

There was no news of pest attack in any area of the district. Moreover,there was no shortage of fertilizer and the cultivators used it as measured in their lands.

Abdul Khalek, one of the T-Aman cultivators of Nayachar village under Ghior upazil of the district, told BSS that he had cultivated T-Aman on four bigas of land during the current season and expected a good harvest.

After harvesting of Aman, he would cultivate Mustard on those lands, he added.

Md Rustom Ali, another cultivator of Matta under Manikganj sadar upazila,said he had cultivated T-Aman on two bigas of land experimentally for the first time and expected a good harvest.
