Aman plantation goes on in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, July 16 (BSS): Plantation of Aman seedlings has been getting momentum and the farmers have engaged their full efforts to make the farming programme successful in the district.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said a total of 81,000 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation in all five upazilas of the district with the production target of 3,22,000 tonnes of rice.

Of the total, 22,000 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation in Debiganj upazila, 16,600 hectares in Sadar, 16,200 hectares in Tetulia, 16,600 hectares in Atwari and 9,600 hectares in Boda upazila.

In the meantime, 40 percent cultivation works has been completed and the rest land would be completed by the second week of the next month, the sources said.

Deputy Director of DAE M Najrul Islam told BSS that the department has supplied high quality seeds, fertilisers, pesticides and other agriculture inputs at a fair price among the farmers.

Besides, the department has also provided training to the farmers to make them acquainted with the modern methods of Aman cultivation.
