Aman seeds, fertilisers distributed in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, July 8 (BSS): A special farmers- friendly programme for free distribution of government- allocated Aman paddy seeds and fertilizers among the storm-affected farmers of three unions under Purbadhala upazila of the district started at Jaria union parishad office premises on Monday.

Purbadhala upazila parishad sources said, the storm-hit three unions include Jaria, Dolamul gaon and Ghagra.

A severe hail-storm lashed over the areas on April 27 last causing extensive damage to standing crops and properties there.

Local Parliament Member Waresat Hossain Belal, Bir-Pratik, formally inaugurated the programme by distributing Aman seeds and different fertilizers including DAP and MOP among the 500 storm-hit marginal farmers of the Jaria union.

Chairman of Purbadhala upazila parishad Jahidul Islam Sujon chaired the function. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Helaluddin, Chairman of Jaria Union Parishad Aminul Islam Nantu and Upazila Agriculture officer Swapan Kumar Saha spoke on the occasion.
