NETRAKONA, Mar 2 (BSS): The annual athletic and sports competition and annual prize giving ceremony-2014 of Netrakona Government University College was held on the college playground here yesterday.
The deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy MP formally inaugurated the competition as the chief guest while principal of the college M Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan was in the chair.
The inaugural function was addressed, among others, by deputy commissioner Abul Kalam Azad, police super Jakir Hussain Khan and associate professor of the college Noni Gopal Sarker.
Speaking at the function, deputy minister Arif Khan Joy said the government under the dynamic leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina is putting in its best and sincere efforts for ensuring congenial academic atmosphere in all the educational institutions across the country.
He said the government is also developing the infrastructures including indoor game rooms and playgrounds of the institutions.
