RANGPUR, Nov 3 (BSS): Members of the country's biggest and well-organised volunteer organisation 'Ansar-VDP' has been contributing largely in building a middle income Bangladesh through accelerating national development.
Speakers said this yesterday while addressing a concluding ceremony of the 21-day basic training course arranged for the Ansar-VDP members at its Mahiganj Regional Training Centre in the city, a press release said today.
The training course was arranged simultaneously for 380 male and female Ansar-VDP members from October 11 at Rangpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Lalmonirhat, Kurigram and Gaibandha districts in Rangpur division.
The District Commanders and other officials of Ansar-VDP and five external trainers and resource persons conducted the training course at each of the concerned district headquarters.
The Ansar-VDP members were provided training on operating arms and exercising firing, organisational, administrative and multi-dimensional socioeconomic development activities through the course.
In Rangpur, Divisional Range Director of Ansar-VDP Dulal Chandra Sarker attended the concluding ceremony at its Mahiganj Regional Training Centre and distributed certificates among the trainee Ansar-VDP members as the chief guest.
Director (VDP Training) of Ansar-VDP from its Dhaka headquarters Zahedul Hassan attended the ceremony as the special guest with District Commander Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.
Rangpur Sadar Upazila Ansar-VDP Officer Sheikh Mahfuzur Rahman moderated the concluding ceremony.
The speakers said the Ansar-VDP has become the prime driving force in building a middle income Bangladesh as they are contributing towards the socioeconomic uplift in rural areas.
Alongside alleviating poverty, the Ansar-VDP members have been creating awareness to eliminate drug abuse, social discriminations and superstitions for building poverty-and drug-free Bangladesh, they said.
They appreciated the Ansar-VDP members for creating public awareness about sanitation, safe motherhood, nutrition, education, agriculture, tree plantation, HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases in rural areas.
The chief guest asked the Ansar-VDP members to utilize their practical knowledge acquired from the training to accelerate overall national development.
Later, he distributed certificates among the participants, the press release added.
