\\\'Ansar, VDP members playing vital role in national uplift\\\'

GAIBANDHA, MAY 27 (BSS): Speakers at a function here on Monday said the Ansar and VDP members are playing significant role in developing the nation and rooting out social crimes to ensure peaceful society in grass root level.

"Bangladesh Ansar and VDP has been working relentlessly for the welfare of the people of the country since its inception and has enabled to achieve the confidence of the people for their good performances", they said.

They made the comments while addressing an annual rally of Ansar and VDP of Sadar Upazila at the training centre of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at Dhandhagara here.

District commandant of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP M. Mahbubur Rahman addressed the rally as the chief guest while acting Upazila Parishad chairman Rashida Begum presided over the function.

District commandant M. Mahbubur Rahman said the present government had given the responsibility to Ansar and VDP to execute different welfare programmes for bolstering the rural economy to help turn the Bangladesh into a middle income one by 2021.

The district commandant urged the members to engage themselves in different efforts to make the society free from the curse of social crimes and superstitions, especially eve teasing, human trafficking, gender disparity, militancy and sexual harassment.

Later, the chief guest distributed bicycles and umbrellas among the 21 members of Ansar and VDP for their courageous and dedicated role in maintaining law and order.

A total of 200 Ansar and VDP members and their leaders and master trainers of the Upazila took part in the rally.
