A total of five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Ashulia, Kushtia and Sitakunda on Wednesday night, report BSS.
In Savar, two persons were killed and five others injured in a road accident in front of Fantasy Kingdom in the Jamgora area in Ashulia, on the outskirts of the capital, on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Badrul Alam Gazi, 60, and Ridoy, 26.
The accident occurred as a locally-made vehicle called 'Leguna' fell into a ditch in the area, leaving seven passengers injured critically.
Locals sent them to a local hospital where two injured succumbed to their injuries.
In Kushtia, two persons, including a woman, were killed in two separate road accidents in Mirpur and Bheramara upazilas in Kushtia on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Rehana Akhter, 46, wife of Montu Sardar of Noudakhadimpur area in Mirpur upazila, and Firoz Alam, 32, son of Kamal Hossain of Bahadurpur village in Bheramara upazila of the district.
Locals said when a truck hit an auto-rickshaw on the Bheramara-Bahadurpur road, leaving rickshaw passenger Firoz Alam dead on the spot on Wednesday night.
In another accident, a sand-laden truck hit Rehana and her husband Montu while they were crossing the road, leaving Rehana dead on the spot.
Montu was sent to upazila health complex in a critical condition.
Two separate cases were filed in these regards.
In Chattogram, a woman was killed in a road accident in the Kumira area under Sitakunda upazila along the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Chattogram on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Khadiza Khatun, 24, wife of Rashed Al Mahmud of Mandaritola village of the upazila, an honours fourth-year student at Sitakunda University College.
Locals said the accident occurred as a covered van hit a motorcycle in the area Wednesday night, leaving motorcycle rider Khadiza injured critically.
Later, members of Fire Service and locals took her to Chattogram Medical College Hospital where the duty doctor declared her dead.
Legal action has been taken in this regard.
