MYMENSINGH, Apr 15 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension has started distribution of quality Aus seeds of Nerica (African variety) and high yielding variety free of cost under Aus incentive programme in the district.
The objectives of the programme are to increase the cultivation of high yielding varieties, its production and to encourage the farmers.
Under the programme, a seed distribution programme was held in Muktagacha upazila this noon organised by upazila Agriculture Office.
Salahuddin Mukti, MP, distributed seeds Narica and high yielding varieties among 410 farmers of 8 unions of the upazila as the chief guest.
The unions are Basati, Kumergata, Kheruajanee, Mankon, Kashempur, Daugeon, Tarati and Baragram.
Ex-upazila Chairman Adv Badar Ahmed, Ex Vice-Chairman Debashish Gosh and Upazila Agriculture Officer Mahbubul Alam and Upazila Education Officer Faizunnesa Begum, among others, were present.
The officials and employees of agriculture office, people representatives and farmers were present in the function.
Upazila agriculture office sources told BSS that each farmer received 10 KGs of Nerica seeds, 20 KGs of urea, 1o KGs of DAP and 10 KGs of MPO.
Besides, each farmer who will cultivate high yielding varieties of Aus paddy received five KGs of Aus seeds, 20 KGs of DAP, 10 KGs of MOP fertilizer.
