Aush paddy harvest nears completion in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Aug 20 (BSS): Aush paddy harvesting nears completion in the district as the farmers and agricultural officials are happy to see its bumper production.

Department of Agricultural Extensions (DAE) officials attributed bumper Aush yield to favourable weather condition.

They said Aush cultivation is lucrative for the farmers due to its less expense as the farmers can row Aush seedling after harvesting Boro paddy and plant T- Aman after harvesting Aush paddy.

About 20 maund Aus paddy can be produced from one bigha of land, they added.

Farmer Golam Kibria of Soundordigi village said he has cultivated BREE-82 variety of Aush paddy on three bigha of land as he got 50 maund of paddy.

Per maund Aush paddy is being sold at Taka 750 to 800 in the local hat, he said.
