Auto-rickshaw driver chopped to death

PABNA, Mar 24: An auto-rickshaw driver was chopped to death by miscreants at Razapur in front of the Pabna University of Science and Technology in Pabna Sadar Upazila Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Kuddus, 45, son of Gadu Biswas of village Perchitulia of the Sadar Upazila.

Police and locals said that a gang of muggers obstructed the auto-rickshaw at Razapur-Khoyeersuti area to snatch the vehicle and chopped its driver, leaving him injured on the spot while he was returning home. Locals rushed to the spot hearing screaming of the driver at around 11:00pm on Sunday.

They took him to Pabna Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. Later, he died on way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Pabna sadar police station Kazia Haniful Islam said the body was sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Pabna police station in this regard.
