Awareness against misuse of formalin stressed

JAMALPUR, May 21 (BSS): Discussants at a meeting stressed for creating awareness among fish-traders and fishermen against misuse of formalin to save people from deadly diseases.

Fisheries Department arranged the meeting at "Mukta Mancha" in Dewanganj upazila on Tuesday afternoon to make the upazila free from formalin-mixed-fish.

Dewanganj upazila Chairman M Abul Kalam Azad presided over the meeting while district fisheries officer Ranjit Kumar Paul, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Aminul Haque, upazila fisheries officer ASM Sanwar Rasel and journalist M Mukhlesur Rahman were present, among others.

The speakers said consuming of formalin mixed fish might develop various deadly diseases in human body including cancer, miscarriage, skin inflammation and breathing problem.
