Awareness can minimise losses during disaster: Speakers

FULBARI, Oct 14 (BSS): Speakers at a discussing arranged in observance of the International Day for Disaster Reduction- 2014 here yesterday stressed for creating awareness and early preparedness to minimise losses during disasters.
The main objective of observance of the day was to make every individual and the common people aware of pre- and post disaster managements successfully.
Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) of World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) in joint collaboration with Fulbari Upazila Administration chalked out daylong programmes to observe the day with the theme of 'Resilience is for Life.'
The day's programme began with bringing out of huge colourful rally followed by a discussion meeting, art and essay competition for the school children focusing on the day's theme.
A large number of government and non-government officials, students, teachers, civil society members, community leaders, public representatives, socio-cultural activists, media workers, common people and local elite participated in the rally.
Later in the afternoon, a discussion meeting was held at the auditorium of Fulbari Upazila Parishad Complex with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Moniruzzaman in the chair.
Representative of Fulbari ADP of WVB Lal Thuai Ngak Bawm and Upazila Project Implementation Officer Tazul Islam addressed the discussion, among others.
