Awareness to protect groundwater stressed

RAJSHAHI, Apr 04 (BSS): Speakers at a discussion opined that creating mass awareness has become crucial for protecting the existing groundwater resources from further degradation to safeguard human civilisation and biodiversity.

They viewed that the groundwater resources in the region, including its vast Barind tract, should be protected and conserved through substantial and sustainable promotion of aquifer recharge.

District administration and local office of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) jointly organised the meeting at the conference hall of deputy commissioner (DC) in observance of the World Water Day-2022 on Monday.

Officials and staff of various other organisations including Rajshahi City Corporation, Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA), Rajshahi Water and Sewerage Authority and Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) joined the programme.
