Bagerhat, Sunamganj, Ctg road crashes kill six

A total of six prsons were killed in separate road accidents in Bagerhat, Sunamganj and Chottogram district on Wednesday, report agencies.

In Bagerhat, three people were killed when a truck rammed into a motorcycle on the Khulna-Mongla Highway at the Chulkathi Bhatto area in Sadar upazila of Bagerhat district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Kader Farazi, 45, of Fakirhat upazila in the district, Bahadur, 32 of Morelganj upazila, and Monir Hossain Munna, 43.

Zafor Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Katakhali Highway Police, said the accident occurred around 9:15 am when the Mongla-bound goods-laden truck hit the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, leaving one dead on the spot and two others injured.

In Sunamganj, two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a laguna (mini transport) on the Sylhet-Sunamganj highway in Shantiganj upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Zaher Mia, 18, son of Alfa Uddin from Kathir union of Sadar upazila, and Ibrahim Mia, 26, a resident of Ghagli village of Shantiganj upazila.

The accident took place in Ahsanmara Bridge area under Joykalas union, causing severe traffic congestion on the busy highway .

In Chattogram, an on-duty passed away while receiving treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after sustaining critical injuries while trying to seize a battery-run auto-rickshaw in the Pahartali police station area.

Police constable Abdul Kuddus died in the ICU of CMCH on Wednesday, confirmed by CMC police outpost Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder. Constable Kuddus had stopped an illegal battery-run auto-rickshaw in Rashmoni Ghat area last Friday evening.
