\\\'Bangladesh marching towards self-reliance on electricity\\\'

RANGPUR, Feb 14 (BSS): Bangladesh has been marching successfully towards achieving self-reliance on electricity through continuous success in increasing its power generation capacity.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs Tipu Munshi MP said this after switching on of the newly built power supply lines for four villages under Pirgachha upazila here on Friday afternoon as the chief guest.

With the switching on of the power supply lines, 275 residential houses, educational institutions, charitable organisations, deep tube wells, industries have been provided with electricity in Ghaghoa, Bairagi Para, Zanerpar and Kuri Para villages of the upazila.

The Rural Electrification Board has (REB) implemented construction works of the power supply lines to fulfill the long-cherished demand of hundreds of the common people of the area.

Regional Director of the REB Abdur Rahim Mian presided over the switching on ceremonies arranged at Sadar Union parishad, Ghaghoa, Ananatoram Mandalbari Hafizia Madrasa, Bairagi Para and Zanerpar villages in the upazila.

Pirgachha upazila chairman Alhaj Afsar Ali, UNO Aliya Ferdous Jahan and General Manager of Rangpur Polli Bidyut Samity-1 Dewan Tofazzal Hossain and Awami League (AL) leader Tuhin Chowdhury attended the ceremonies as the special guests.
