A total of four persons were killed in separate road accidents in Barishal and Khulna districts on Monday, reports UNB.
In Barishal, two people were killed in a collision between two trucks in Sonar Bangla area on
Dhaka-Barishal highway in Uzirpur upazila of Barisal early Monday.
The deceased
were identified as Sabuj Hawlader, 30, son of Dulal Hawlader from Mardoshi village in Uzirpur, and Sohel 20, son of
Ratan from Borgir Char village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia.
According to police, when a truck loaded with tiles was standing on the road a Barisal-bound mango-laden truck from Chapainawabganj crashed into the stationary truck around
3 am, leaving helper of the mango-laden truck Sohel dead on the spot and pedestrian Sabuj injured.
Sabuj was first taken to Uzirpur Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Sher-e-Bangla Medical
College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment on Monday morning.
A team from the Uzirpur Fire Service station recovered Sohel's body from the mango-laden truck.
Gournadi Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Aminur Rahman said they recovered one body from the scene and sent
the injured pedestrian to the hospital.
In Khulna, two people were killed and four others injured as a speeding truck rammed into a three-wheeler at Hogladanga intersection in Khulna city on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Raihan, and Jewel Babu, residents of Hogladanga Basharia area of the city.
Quoting locals, sub-inspector of Harintana Police Station Babul Mia said the gas cylinder-laden truck lost control and crashed into the three-wheeler at the intersection,
leaving Raihan dead on the spot and five others injured.
The injured were taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where Jewel was declared dead by physicians upon arrival,
he said, adding the rest of the injured were
undergoing treatment
there.
Raihan and Jewel were passengers of the three-wheeler, Babul Mia said.
