BCL leaders withdraw movement in RU

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Apr 29: The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Rajshahi University (RU) unit has withdrawn its continuous demonstration over seven point demand including stopping establishment of a police station on the campus, planting trees and withdrawing cases against BCL men.

In a press briefing, Mizanur Rahman Rana, president of BCL university unit yesterday evening declared withdrawal of their movement.

He said that BCL leaders on Tuesday afternoon met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Muhammed Mizan Uddin at his office. The meeting has fruitful. So the movement has been temporarily suspended.

"If the results are not quickly available, we would return to the movement", Rana said.

In this regard, Prof. Elias Hossain, administrator of public relations office told that all demands of BCL are admissible including tree plantation in campus and develop the transportation.

The authority will examine the allegation of BCL about irregularities of teacher recruit in applied Mathematics department.

Moreover, VC also assured them to look into the case paper if any name of BCL activists has in the cases over the demonstration on February 2, last year.
