BINA-22 paddy field-day held in Magura

MAGURA, Nov 20: The Field Day of BINA-22 paddy was held in the district.

The Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA), Magura sub-centre arranged the event in Moghi village under Magura Sadar upazila on Wednesday.

BINA official sources said BINA-22 paddy plants can stand steadily facing storm.

Recent cyclone Bulbul attack has caused damage to a small extent in BINA-22 paddy fields.

The Aman variety paddy requires less irrigation and insecticides. This paddy is high productive. Around 22 maunds of paddy can be produced in a bigha of land.

In observance of the Field Day, BINA director general Biresh Kumar Goshwami was the chief guest while BINA chief scientific officer Dr Md Abdul Malek, principal scientific officer Dr Snigdha Roy and Magura DAE deputy director Zahidul Amin attended as the special guests.

Magura BINA officer in-charge Sushan Chowhan presided over the event. About 200 farmers took part in the Field Day.
