SYLHET, May 25: The case for much talked about killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das is being transferred to the CID for investigation.
An order from the police headquarter reached Sylhet yesterday, informed the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Mohammad Rahamat Ullah yesterday (Monday) afternoon. The order came as the local police failed to get any clue to the broad-day murder, police admitted.
A day into the murder the 'Gonojagoron Mancha' Sylhet chapter pressed half- day hartal, held rally and handed over memo to the administration. But the agitation is getting weaker by now.
The mancha's local coordinator Debashish Debu said yesterday presently there had been no programme. However, the left parties will hold a rally and take out procession in the city Tuesday.
As Ananta bijoy Das was stabbed to death on May 12 morning at the Sylhet city's Subidbazar area, his elder brother Ratneshwar bijoy Das filed a case with Airport police station accusing 4 unidentified persons same night. But there had been no headway, admitted the officer in charge of the airport police station Gousul Hossain.
Ananta came under the attack about 100 yards from his house as he was on way to Jawabazar branch of Pubali bank in Chhatak of Sunamganj district. The gruesome murder triggered widespread agitation and protests all over the country and abroad. Within hours 'Ansarullah Bangla' took responsibility of the killing.
