KHULNA, Apr 9: Bangladesh Navy seized huge quantity of fishing nets worth about Tk. 200 million and 160 kgs Jatka fish in several drives from different rivers of southern area during the last 3 weeks as part of the 'Jatka Preservation Drive-2015'.
The authority seized in different drives 69, 67,740 meters fishing nets worth about Tk. 200 million during the last three weeks from March-15, 2015 and the drive will continue till May-31, 2015.
The seized fishing nets have been destroyed in presence of local administration, law enforcing agencies and fisheries officers.
Meanwhile, the availability of Hilsha fishes has been increased in the rivers of the region than the previous time and the authority also expects that the availability of Hilsha fish will be increased in near future.
