Boat capsize kills three fishermen in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, June 27 (BSS): At least three fishermen were drowned in the river Meghna when a boat capsized at Surjamukhi Khal area under Hatiya upazila of the district this morning.

The victim fishermen are Jamal Majhi (50), Abdul Motin (25), and Rakib (19), inhabitants of Sunnerchar village under Burirchar union of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Hatiya thana Nurul Huda said 10 fishermen went to the river for catching hilsha fish early this morning. The boat carrying the fishermen capsized in the river due to heavy current and gusty wind at about 8 am.

Other fishermen on the river rescued the seven and sent them to Hatiya Upazila Health Complex.
