PABNA, Oct 19: A traditional boat race was held on the Chalan Beel, the biggest waterbody in the northern region on Sunday afternoon. Two villages, Kukragari and Islampur of Chatmohar Upazila, jointly arranged the boat race at Bualmaria area under Chatmohar Upazila of Pabna. A total of 22 teams took part in the boat race.
A large number of people gathered including men, women and children on the banks of the beel to witness the competition. Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) of Pabna district president Dr. Golzar Hossain attended the occasion as chief guest.
The team of Abu Bakar Sardar secured the first prize, Tofan Ali Mondal secured the 2nd prize and Mobarak Hossain secured the 3rd prize.
