Bogra veg cultivators use Pheromone trap to save cost

BOGRA, Feb 3: To get fresh vegetable production, the authority concerned suggests the peasants across the district to use pheromone trap in their field.

The method is gaining popularity in the area as it is cheap, effective and easy to use.

Sub-assistance agriculture officer Faridur Rahman said the peasants get fresh and chemical-free vegetable and at the same time they can save production cost if they apply pheromone trap. He also urged the farmers to use the environment-friendly in both Rabi and Kharif season.

"I have applied pheromone trap in my brinjal field. I saved minimum Tk 1,200 this season ," said farmer Rezaul Karim of Badaher village under Kahaloo upazila.

In recent visit this correspondent found a good number of farmers have installed pheromone trap in their vegetable fields.

"I am applying the method in my 23 decimals bitter gourd land this season and getting a good result," said farmer Romendranath Podder of Chamrul village under Dupchanchia upazila.

Farmer Sobhan Pramanik said he had got a good production last year as he applied pheromone trap in his cucumber field.

Deputy director of DAE Protul Chandra Sarker said, "We encourage the farmers to apply the method instead of pesticide to get a good production. The method ensures fresh vegetable every season.
