Bogura kumrabori makers pass busy time as winter knocks at door

BOGURA, Oct 13: More than 900 people of the district are engaged in making 'kumrabori' in the winter season.
Sources said October to April is the ideal time for making the tasty food.
Kumrabori maker said it is a winter delicacy. It has high demand in different districts.
According to local sources, many people in Dupchanchia, Kahaloo, Adamdighi, Sherpur, Dhunat, Gabtoly and Shahjahanpur upazilas of the district make the item for sale in the market.
Many people also take it as a business.
In a recent visit in Kalai Majhpara village under Kahaloo upazila and Borai Purbopara under Dupchanchia upazila of the district this correspondent found artisan were drying kumrabori in the sun.
Each kg of quality kumrabori is being sold at Tk 250 to Tk 300 in the market, said Krishno of Adamdighi upazila.
Making a profit of Tk 50 to Tk 100 per kg from the item is easy, he added.
Traders from adjacent areas visit the district to purchase item at a wholesale rate.
