Boishakhi Fair hampering academic activities in Thakurgaon College

THAKURGAON, May 6 (BSS): A 10 day-long 'Boishakhi Fair' is hampering educational activities seriously at Ranisankail Degree College here.

The fair is being held on Ranisankail Degree college campus under Thakurgaon district.

The HSC examinees are facing serious problem to write their answer scripts due to loud voice and confused noises of the fair. About 100 stalls were set up in the fair. The shopkeepers using microphone to attract the customers breaking the peaceful atmosphere and creating disturbance to the examinees.

A shopkeeper Abdul Latif said that the selling of goods starts from the morning and ends in the night.

HSC examinees Nasima Begum, Shahnaj Akhtar, Ashim Roy and others complained that the shopkeepers using microphone which disturbed their attention to write answers.

They further alleged that some shopkeepers play songs through microphones which are more disturbing.

A source of the fair said that the fair started on April 28 and will continue till May 7.

Poet Asad Chowdhury formally inaugurated the fair.

The convener of the 'Boishakh Udjapon Parishad' and centre secretary of HSC examination centre Prof. Tajul Islam said that it is a traditional fair which is being held every year on the college campus. He said that the examinees are not facing any problem. No examinee filed any complain about the activities of the fair.

Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) of Ranisankail upazila Ashraful Islam said that the elite of the area arrange this fair every year on the college campus. He emphasised that if any activity in the fair create disturbance to the examinees, it would be stopped immediately.
