Boro cultivation going on in Muktagacha

MYMENSINGH, Feb 4 (BSS): Boro paddy cultivation is progressing fast in Muktagacha upazila of the district in the current season.

The farmers are busy with boro cultivation round-the- clock.

Upazila agriculture office sources said, DAE has set up a target to cultivate Boro paddy on over 18,000 hectares of land with a production target of 75,000 tonnes rice in 10 unions of the upazila.

Sources said, BADC has distributed quality seeds to the farmers with view to boost expected production this year in the upazila.

Upazila agriculture officer Nargis Akhter told BSS that necessary assistance like quality seeds, fertilisers and loans were provided to the farmers.

Besides, field level officers of Upazila Agriculture Dept have been engaged with the boro cultivation and also giving technical support and necessary advice.

A total of 485 deep tubewells, 1,260 shallow and 130 power pumps being used in irigation purposes, sources said.
