Boro paddy cultivation in Netrakona, Manikganj have exceeded this year's target, reports BSS.
In Netrakona, Boro paddy cultivation in Netrakona has exceeded target with bringing additional 253 hectares of land under cultivation.
Now, the Boro cultivators are putting in their best efforts in nursing the growing plants across the district.
Officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Netrakona, said the DAE has fixed a target for producing 0.77 million (7.70 lakh) tonnes of clean Boro rice from 1,84,575 hectares of land in ten upazilas of the district.
But, the Boro cultivators transplanted Boro seedlings on 1,84,828 hectares of land exceeding this year's cultivation target.
Meanwhile, the crops specialists of the DAE Netrakona and the Boro cultivators are happy with excellent growth of the Boro paddy plants and favourable weather condition.
They are expecting a bumper production of the Boro paddy this year if the climate condition remains favourable till the harvesting period.
Meanwhile, different state-run agencies including BADC and BCIC have supplied improved quality seeds and fertilizers and agricultural equipment including irrigation machineries to the door-steps of the Boro cultivators to help them run their Boro farming network.
In Manikganj, Boro cultivation has been completed in all seven upazilas of the district during the current season amid much enthusiasm.
Sources at Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said they had set a target to bring a total of 46,775 hectares of land in all seven upazilas of the district during the current season with the production of 1, 79,216 tonnes of Boro paddy. Finally, the farmers cultivated Boro on 47,985 hectares of land exceeding the fixed target.
Abu Mohammad Enayet Ullah, deputy director of the DAE, said, "The farmers are expecting a bumper production as the favourable weather is prevailing all over the district and the paddy plant is growing well".
To make the cultivation a grand success, necessary measures had been taken to supply fertilisers, insecticides and other agri inputs to the farmers at fair prices side by side with ensuring power supply facility by Bangladesh Power Development Board and Rural Electrification Board, said an official of DAE.
