Boro plantation completed in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Mar 27: Plantation of Boro paddy seedlings have been completed in Nilphamari district amidst speculation of expected production. The Boro farmers are now busy in weeding and manuring the tender Boro plants in their farmland.

Sources said after the plantation urea fertiliser is being scattered in the farmland to let the plants grow faster. This year the fertilisers are also available in good supply. The price of diesel for running the shallow tube wells for irrigation is also within the affordability of the farmers.

DAE sources said this year's target of Boro cultivation in the district is in 79443 hectares of land to produce 329671 metric tonnes of paddy out of which hybrid are in 26710 hectares of land to produce 126015 metric tonnes and Upshi is in 52733 hectares of land to produce 203656 metric tonnes of paddy.
