Boro rice procurement begins in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, May 30: Procurement of Boro rice and paddy of this season is to begin from today (Sunday) in Nilphamari district and the preparation of which is going on including making contact with the husky and auto rice mills.

There are 588 husky mills and 9 auto rice mills in the district.

District Controller of Food office sources said, this year's target of Boro rice procurement in the district is 20685 tonnes and paddy 1739 tonnes.

Procurement price of Boro rice is Tk 32 per kg and paddy Tk 22 per kg. The same sources said rice to be procured from the contracted husky and auto rice mills of the district while paddy to be procured directly from the growers.

There are seven local supply depots (LSD) in six upazilas of the district where the rice and paddy to be procured and stored.
