NARAYANGANJ, Feb 20 (UNB): Detective Branch (DB) of police rescued a minor boy from Narayanpur area under Matlab thana (South) in Chandpur district on Wednesday, five days after his abduction from Siddhirganj upazila of the district.
The rescued boy is Khairul Islam, 5, son of Mozammel Haque, a resident of Hirajhil area of the upazila.
Police also arrested five youngsters-Mehedi Hasan, 21, Mahbub Alam, 24, Anik, 22, Sarwar, 18, and Rana,21, for their suspected link to the abduction.
The arrestees during interrogation told police that they had picked up Khairul from in front of their residence on February 15.
Later, the kidnappers demanded Tk 1.5 million as ransom to the victim's parents over mobile phone, said police.
Victim's father Mojammel filed a general diary with Siddhirganj Police Station in this connection.
