FARIDPUR, Dec 11: Keeping in view the hundredth birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (Mujib Year), the branding fair is going on in Faridpur.
The district administration has organised the fair for the second time with various jute products of Faridpur.
This fair is going to make Faridpur known as 'Jute District.'
At a press conference on November 29, Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarker said the purpose of the fair was to create local and foreign markets of various jute and jute products of Faridpur.
Faridpur is the first place in the country for producing jute, he said. But there was not enough presence of jute products in this branding fair.
The authorities made arrangements for 120 stalls but a few have been participated. The gate of the fair is decorated with aesthetic vision. A beautiful fountain has been erected. A 50 foot-high tower in the middle of the fair has been erected.
To enhance the beauty of the fair at night, huge lights were illuminated with different colour lamps.
In addition, cultural events are organised every evening on the fair stage.
The month-long fair started on November 30 on the premises of the Government Rajendra College, with the tagline 'Faridpur the land of golden fiber, the land we love'.
Of the stalls, buyers have the opportunity to purchase jute products from one stall called 'Deputy Commissioner's Corner'. From there, jute bags, sandals and various items have been found to sell well.
Besides, three items from the Karim Group, Razzak Jute Industries and Golden Jute Industries were displayed in the fair.
