Bumper wheat production on way in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI: Feb 27: A bumper wheat production is expected this year due to recent rains of consecutive four days in Nilphamari district. Agro inputs and different fertilisers like urea, phosphate, potas and zinc etc were also easily available in the district this season.
Wheat plants have grown up to its maximum heights. Excellent sprouting of buds of the wheat plants is visible everywhere in the fields across the district.
DAE sources said this year's target of wheat cultivation in the district is 4373 hectares of land to produce 13338 metric tonnes of wheat at an average production of 3.05 metric tonnes per hectare. Farmer's sources said the production target is expected to surpass due to favourable climatic condition.
One wheat farmer Abu Alam of Ittakhola union parishad of Sadar upazila said he has cultivated wheat in one acre of land and his total expenditure would be Tk. 8000 including harvesting cost. But he is expecting 30 maunds of wheat to be produced which he would be able to sell at a price of Tk. 25000.
