Call to abolish night courses in RU

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, June 29: The leaders and activists of the Socialist Student Front (SSF), a student wing of Bangladesher Socialist Party, demanded abolition of all night course programmes in Rajshahi University (RU) immediately.

They also protested strongly of what they called mass commercialisation and privatisation of higher education through these evening courses. Earlier Monday at 11.30am about hundreds of activists of SSF university unit brought out a rally to press their demand.

After the rally they gathered in a short meeting in front of the central library.

Speakers demanded to raise budgetary allocation in the education and research sector in the national budget, and establish a public university in each district of the country.
