RANGPUR, May 19 (BSS): Health experts at a post-rally discussion here have stressed for leading systematic life and controlling hypertension or high blood pressure (HBP) to reduce risks of the silent killer disease.
They put special emphasis on regular physical exercise, less salt intake, changed food habit avoiding fatty foodstuffs and maintaining proper weight to help the HBP patients in reducing risks of deadly heart attacks, strokes and brain hemorrhages.
They were addressing the discussion organised by Rangpur Hypertension and Research Centre (RHRC) at its premises on Sunday in observance of the World Hypertension Day-2015 with the theme of 'Know Your Blood Pressure'.
The RHRC, a sister organisation of Wasim-Waleda Bahumukhi Kallyan Foundation, chalked out programmes, including colourful rally and discussion, to observe the day with a view to create public awareness on maintaining controlled blood pressure.
The main objectives of the observance were to educate the common people about the severe consequences of hypertension and uncontrolled HBP to reduce risks of heart attacks, brain hemorrhage, damage of kidney, eye sight and many other organs.
Earlier, founding President (Honorary) of RHRC and Principal of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Professor Dr Md Zakir Hossain led the rally from Rangpur Press Club to the RHRC premises and addressed the discussion as the chief guest.
Hundreds of physicians, engineers, teachers, lawyers, agriculturists, journalists, students, civil society members, hypertension patients, professionals, community leaders, and elite of the divisional city participated in the rally.
