GAIBANDHA, Jan 25 (BSS): Speakers at an event on Wednesday made a call to make the bull-fattening programme successful to meet the nutrition demand in the country.

"In this regard, the local service providers of the livestock department can play vital role in attaining the cherished goal through providing their services to the persons who are involved in bull-fattening activity".

They made the comments while addressing a workshop for the local service providers (livestock) at a local hotel at Radhakrishnapur, on the outskirt of the district town, on Wednesday noon.

Non-government organisation M4C-SKS arranged the workshop under making market works for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (m4c) project funded by Embassy of Switzerland and the government of Bangladesh.

District Livestock Officer Dr. Masudur Rahman formally inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.

Later, intervention specialist of M4C-SKS Foundation Hafizur Rahman Sheikh briefed the participants about the objectives and purposes of the workshop and Senior Intervention Officer Chandranath Gupta discussed overall activities of the project elaborately.

The objective of the workshop was to develop the relationship among the contracted bull fattening farmers, the men of agro vet companies, staff of micro-finance institutes and the field level employees of the livestock department so that bull fattening activity could be successful.

Then the local service providers (livestock) were imparted training aimed at building their capacity.

A number of officials working in various agro vet companies conducted the training sessions as resource persons.

A total of 40 local service providers (livestock) who work in project command areas of the district participated in the workshop.
