Call to make community hospitals effective for the extreme poor

RANGPUR, Nov 6: Speakers at a views sharing meeting stressed the need for making upazila and community level hospitals effective to ensure adequate healthcare facilities for the extreme poor people.
Advocacy for Social Change of Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) organised the daylong meeting under its Targeting the Ultra Poor (TUP) Project at Upazila Health Complex auditorium, Taraganj in the upazila recently.     
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Taraganj Dr. Md. Shahjahan presided over the meeting.  Among others Dr. Prosanta Kumar Mondal, Consultant, Medicine, Upazila Health Complex, Taraganj, Dr. Md. Bashar, Residential Medical Officer (RMO) upazila health complex, Taraganj, Dr. Shamima Yasmin, MOMCH were also present in the meeting.  
Md. Harun-ar-Rashid, Senior District Manager, BRAC Social Empowerment Programme, Rangpur delivered the welcome speech. Md. Rashedul Islam, Branch Manager BRAC (TUP) project, presented the Targeting the Ultra poor Project of BRAC.
Md. Minhajul Islam, Social Communicator, Advocacy for Social Change, BRAC, Rangpur presented the keynote paper and described the aims and objectives of the project arranged for reaching the services being provided under the TUP Project to the ultra poor people in the rural areas.
