Call to protect child rights for future leadership

RAJSHAHI, June 18 (BSS): Speakers at an advocacy meeting in Rajshahi Thursday said protecting the children alongside freeing them from all sorts of violation, repression and deprivation has become indispensable for building a healthy and knowledge-based future generation.

They viewed children especially coming from the disadvantaged and underprivileged families must be protected from all sorts of labour, violence, repression and oppression so that they could make themselves competent enough to serve the nation.

Association for Community Development (ACD) organised the meeting styled "Ensuring Child Protection" held at its conference hall in association with Plan International Bangladesh and Girl Power Project.

Deputy Director of Department of Youth Development Matiur Rahman addressed the session as the chief guest while Officer-in-Charge of Boalia Police Station Shahadat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Sahmukhdum Police Station Abdur Rouf and Chairman of local unit of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Morjina Begum spoke as special guests. Programme Manager of ACD Ehsanul Amin Emon chaired the discussion.

Terming the children learning as the foundation of all higher educations they said discussants their teaching and learning process must be effective and kids- friendly.

Physical and mental development of children couldn't be possible until they are protected from violence and deprivation from their early childhood, they added.

They termed the children as the future power of the nation and called for ensuring equal rights. All the children need teaching of positive family and social values side by side with the institutional ones.
