RANGPUR, Feb 25 (BSS): The day-long project inception workshop on the WASH Package Programme organised by Rangpur regional office of CARE Bangladesh was held at the conference room of Gangachara upazila parishad here on Tuesday.
The Government of Bangladesh and UNICEF have been funding implementation of the project to sustainably improve sanitation and hygiene practice in the targeted communities and schools in four upazilas of Rangpur, Nilphamari and Khulna districts.
Chaired by Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tauhidul Islam, upazila Vice-chairman Foysal Alam and Nazneen Akhter attended the workshop as the specially invited guests.
All key stakeholders, including union Chairmen, officials and representatives from the government and non- government organisations participated in the day-long workshop to launch the project in Gangachara upazila.
Rangpur Regional Programme Support Manager of CARE Bangladesh Hamidur Rahman delivered welcome speech narrating the goals and objectives of the inception of workshop to begin its formal proceedings.
Team Leader of the WASH Package Programme ANM Kaiser Zillany delivered his presentation using multimedia projector elaborating the project activities for improving sanitation and hygiene practice in the targeted communities and schools.
Later, Gangachara Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. AM Zakirul Islam, Sub-assistant Engineer of the Department of Public Health and Engineering Sanoar Morshed and other participants participated in the open discussion session.
Taking part in the open discussion, the speakers discussed various aspects of the newly launched project and forwarded their recommendations, suggestions and thoughts for its proper implementation in the upazila.
