GAIBANDHA, Apr 23 (BSS): Health experts at a function here on Tuesday said cervical cancer is preventable and curable by using relatively simple low cost screening programme- visual inspection by acetic acid (VIA).
"Cervical cancer that forms in tissues is one of the most common cancers in women worldwide, it can often be successfully treated if it is detected early. It is usually found at a very early stage through a Pap test", they said.
They made the comments while addressing a seminar on 'Implementation Learning of Cervical Cancer Screening in Different Settings' at the training center in Kanchipara under Fulchhair upazila.
Friendship, an NGO, organized the seminar under its health programme with the financial support of Cordaid, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and Female Cancer Foundation while Runa Khan, executive director of Friendship, presided over the function.
